Women have long been overlooked in the way history is recorded, taught and remembered. Ancestry’s research revealed that women remain significantly underrepresented in UK history education, leaving generations with a distorted understanding of the past and the role women played in shaping it.

To expose this imbalance, we created a campaign that combined research, storytelling and design. Alongside a large-scale public installation and the launch of The Parity Principle, we produced a bespoke newspaper celebrating 25 forgotten female pioneers uncovered through Ancestry records.

The look drew inspiration from historic newspapers and archival documents, reimagining a traditionally masculine and gothic aesthetic through a softer, more feminine lens. Every element was crafted by hand. Rigid newspaper grids were intentionally disrupted, while contemporary halftone treatments introduced contrast and modernity, creating a visual language that feels rebellious.
